Survey Problems
All the surveyors on our site are regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Surveyor complaints and problems are rare, but should you have a problem with a surveyor, or a survey report, you should first take it up directly with the surveyor in question. The RICS requires all Chartered Surveyors to have a complaints procedure which should be provided to you upon request, and which must be followed. Most surveyors would wish to avoid lengthy disputes, and most queries and complaints are easily resolvable directly.
If agreement can't be reached, surveyors are obliged to follow an Alternative Dispute Resolution process with an ombudsman or independent arbitrator.
If you are still unable to each an equitable resolution, or feel the surveyor has behaved unprofessionally or unethically, then you may also complain to the RICS who may investigate, and may discipline the surveyor in question.
For details of the RICS Complaints process, see: RICS Complaints
