Delays and poor communication during the pandemic.

We had our survey done two weeks before Christmas and were told we would receive our survey report before Christmas.

Quadlis missed this deadline and unfortunately did not contact us in the meantime to say when it would be ready or why it was delayed. The survey estimated the age of house as 2000 when actually it was built in 1980. Quadlis rectified this for us when asked and amended several other sections of the report that this affected.

Communication was not as good as we had hoped but this was a busy time during the COVID-19 pandemic and before the stamp duty holiday. Quadlis did offer us a 6% discount after we had expressed our disappointment with lack of communication and the error with the age of the house.

Our surveyor is Damian Jowett. He carried out the survey of 25 Grange Avenue, Thorp Arch, on 12th October. It is now 22nd October and we have still not received his report, nor has he returned my phone call or contacted us in any other way. We are extremely disappointed and angry at these omissions and fear that our buyers may decide not to go ahead with their purchase of our property.

I found the 'Local Building Surveyors' web site very easy to use and quickly received a range of quotations for a Building Survey. Damian at Quadlis followed this up with an email the same day as did a number of the others who quoted. I initially spoke to the cheapest company but quickly realised that I would be getting a Homebuyers report and not the required building Survey. Hence, I next spoke to Damian and immediately felt reassured by his in-depth knowledge and experience which came across in our initial contact. Damian conducted the survey very promptly and produced a superbly detailed report using the RICS template but backed this up with additional detail in the form of photographs to explain his findings. Damian also offered a follow-up call to answer all my queries and offer advice and guidance on the next steps. I cannot recommend Quadlis strongly enough, Damian's service was second to none!

We were sent a list of local surveyors very quickly. We chose firstly on the basis of a named individual rather than a limited company. Damian Jowett sent me an email immediately to tell me what he could offer. He sent all information about different surveys for me to read and told me that he had already checked out the house on Streetview. I was impressed by his experience and his proactivity, so asked him to conduct the survey. He was excellent - communication was very fast and, most importantly, very thorough. I would certainly recommend Damian to others.
