Coronavirus Update 4
A couple of weeks ago we gave you an update on what we'd seen happening in the surveying market up to the 9th May.
Since that time things have moved on quite significantly! On Sunday the 11th May, in an address to the nation, Boris Johnson stated that the government would be starting to ease the restrictions on some businesses, details of which would be published over the course of the following week.
It seems that the public assumed (correctly for England at least, although not in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland) that the property market would be one of those to be allowed to re-open, resulting in a huge increase in searches for surveyors on Google from the following Monday, despite the official announcement not being made until later in the week.
That increased volume has continued over the last couple of weeks, returning to levels approaching those of the first week of March.

We have seen a similar uplift in volume through the Local Building Surveyors website. In terms of lead quality, there does seem to have been a slight rise in speculative searches, which we have been happy to credit when reported, but we are also getting some very positive reports of survey bookings as well.
So it seems that there is some genuine recovery in the market which we hope will continue to grow as the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted going forward.
