New RICS Survey Standards
We have been asked a few times about how we are handling the transition to the new RICS 1, 2, 3 level standards.
The problem is that the public, and pretty much any other professional in the home moving market such as mortgage advisors, conveyancers, and estate agents, are largely unaware of the change, and continue to refer to the RICS standard products as the Condition Report, HomeBuyer, and Building Survey.
In our view, it will be some while before the new 1, 2, 3 level designations will become generally recognised by the public.
For that reason, to avoid public confusion, we have chosen to continue using the old naming convention on our website, but specified the corresponding new level, i.e. Condition Report (Level 1), HomeBuyer Report (Level 2), and Building Survey (Level 3).
Additionally our 'What survey do I need' information was updated early in 2021 to reflect this.
Lead information in notification emails and our control panel will continue to use the old name for the time being.
I should point out that we don't actually offer the Level 1 Condition Report to the public through the site at present due to the near total lack of interest in surveyors adding it to their account!
